That reputation will only grow when the breakfast and snack foods giant Kellogg’s makes its move to the Windy City.

Food for Thought
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Michael Fassnacht, CEO of World Business Chicago, the city’s public-private economic development agency, noted that, “Over the past five years, the number of food or agriculture-related companies headquartered in Chicago has risen from fewer than 100 to more than 400.”
This is an amazing growth rate for such a key industry. The addition of Kellogg’s to our city is the cherry on top. While the company already had some operations here, it is making some major changes.
The massive business is splitting itself into three separate companies focusing on cereals, snack foods, and plant-based foods. The headquarters of the new snack foods company will be here in Chicago. This is a huge deal because snack foods currently bring in the most value for the existing Kellogg’s company.
Kellogg’s CEO Steve Cahillane said the move from Battle Creek, Michigan to Chicago is happening thanks to “the city’s infrastructure for international travel and its food innovation culture.”
